Expanded Instructions for Hollyhocks in the Sizzle 'n Pop book

I recently had someone call with a question about this pattern in my new Sizzle n' Pop book. In the instructions in the book I refer to the fabrics as "light" or "dark". However, if you want to re-create the quilt with the colors placed as I have them in the quilt you have to re-create the wheel, so to speak. To avoid that....

I AM INCLUDING A PDF FILE you can download and print out that tells you exactly how many units (and what size, of course) to cut from each of the fabrics by color, instead of by value.

I was also asked about the Hollyhocks fabric requirements. Specifically, on page 3 of Sizzle 'n Pop it asks for

"One 8" square of watercolor blue" (this is the fabric used in the border). What is this for???

This is used for the Upper Right and Lower Left Corners of the quilt as shown in the photo.

These two corners do NOT include the dark green strip.

Simply take your 8" square and cut it once diagonally to yield the two corners for your quilt. Once all of the quilt has been pieced, sew these two final corner units to the top to complete the rectangle.

One other item. I noticed when I was walking through the pattern that I had given instructions for you to create all of the centers for Block A and Block B exactly the same.

Well, the thing is, they are exactly the same with this exception: 15 OF THE UNITS should HAVE LAVENDER IN THE CENTER, 15 OF THE UNITS should HAVE LAVENDER IN THE CORNERS (and Berry in the center). Please read the pdf file.

It's obvious when you look at the photo, and it's a simple fix, but if you were not paying attention you might sew all of them with either lavender or berry in the center and then you would NOT be happy. It's corrected on this page so you can print it out and include with your book.

I hope this helps.. Also, you end up with some strips left over from your wonderful Berry Bliss Bali Pop... Great for making a little something extra.

Please read the pdf file; I have streamlined the fabrics a bit. You do need to add 8 more strips of berry color, some lavender strips for the blocks, and you need fabric for the setting triangles and corners as well as the binding. All of the fabric requirements are on this pdf page I've added. I think having separated the instructions into COLORS (rather than values) is probably going to make it easier for you to create the quilt as you see it in the book.
